چکیده

Biorefinery, which utilizes carbon-neutral biomass as a resource, is attracting attention significant alternative in modern society confronted with climate change. In this study, spent coffee grounds (SCGs) were used the feedstock for lactic acid fermentation. order to improve sugar conversion, alkali pretreatment was optimized by statistical method, namely response surface methodology (RSM). The optimum conditions of SCGs determined follows: 75 °C, 3% potassium hydroxide (KOH) and time 2.8 h. enzymatic hydrolysis pretreated enzyme complex loading 30-unit cellulase, 15-unit cellobiase 50-unit mannanase per g reaction 96 SCG hydrolysates carbon source Lactobacillus cultivation, conversions L. brevis ATCC 8287 parabuchneri 49374 40.1% 55.8%, respectively. Finally, maximum production estimated be 101.2 based on 1000 through optimization hydrolysis.

Characterization of polysaccharides extracted from spent coffee grounds by alkali pretreatment.

Spent coffee grounds (SCG), obtained during the processing of coffee powder with hot water to make soluble coffee, are the main coffee industry residues and retain approximately seventy percent of the polysaccharides present in the roasted coffee beans. The purpose of this study was to extract polysaccharides from SCG by using an alkali pretreatment with sodium hydroxide at 25°C, and determine ...

Isolation of polyphenols from spent coffee grounds and silverskin by mild hydrothermal pretreatment.

In this study, a new method for isolation of polyphenols (PP) from spent coffee grounds (SCG) and coffee silverskin (CS) is described. The method consisted of a mild hydrothermal pretreatment at 120°C, for 20 min, using a liquid-to-solid ratio of 20 mL/g. PP (determined as gallic acid equivalents, GAE) were the most abundant components in the extracts produced by this method, corresponding to 3...

Utilization of spent coffee grounds for isolation and stabilization of Paenibacillus chitinolyticus CKS1 cellulase by immobilization

This study has explored the feasibility of using spent coffee grounds as a good supporting material for the Paenibacillus chitinolyticus CKS1 cellulase immobilization. An optimal operational conditions in a batch-adsorption system were found to be: carrier mass of 12 g/L, under the temperature of 45 °C and no pH adjustments. The immobilization yield reached about 71%. An equilibrium establishme...

Comprehensive utilization of waste hemicelluloses during ethanol production to increase lactic acid yield: from pretreatment to fermentation

BACKGROUND Reducing the cost of producing cellulosic ethanol is essential for the industrialization of biorefinery. Several processes are currently under investigation, but few of these techniques are entirely satisfactory in terms of competitive cost or environmental impact. In this study, a new ethanol and lactic acid (LA) coproduction is proposed. The technique involved addition of waste alk...

Modern Method of Lactic Acid Recovery from Fermentation Broth

H V., M K., R M. (2004): Modern method of lactic acid recovery from fermentation broth. Czech J. Food Sci., 22: 87–94. Electrodialysis was used for lactic acid recovery from fermentation broth. In the first step, lactate was recovered and concentrated by desalting electrodialysis, and the second step was electroconversion of lactate to lactic acid by water-splitting electrodia...
